With only 100 days to the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission said it will start weekly media briefings to inform Nigerians on the progress made by the commission.

INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, in a statement, signed on Wednesday, said the commission will commence with biweekly briefing and later progress to weekly and daily briefings.

He emphasized the commission’s commitment to ensuring Nigerians get free, fair, credible and verifiable elections supported by technology, which guarantees transparent accreditation and upload of polling unit results for citizens to view in real-time on election day.

According to Yakubu, there is no going back on the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System and the INEC Result Viewing Portal for the 2023 general elections.

The INEC chair appealed to political parties and political leaders to conduct their campaigns peacefully, eschewing divisiveness, rancour and violence; as well as citizens to play their own part so as to give Nigerians the election they yearn for.

While pledging to continue to play their part diligently and conscientiously.
