The Independent National Electoral Commission in Bauchi State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the state’s transport unions to facilitate the efficient transportation of personnel and materials during the next general election.

The Punch reported that the agreement was initially signed at the national level and then replicated at the state and local government levels, according to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Mohammed Nura.

He pointed out that while non-sensitive election materials had already been provided to local government areas by the commission, distribution of sensitive election materials would start on Thursday.

According to the REC, the commission trained 622 collation/returning officers and numerous other electoral officials to ensure a smooth run of the state’s elections.

The Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Deputy Presiding Officers, and Technical Employees were among the trained election officials he mentioned in his list.

He asked voters to maintain order throughout the election while reiterating his commitment to conducting free, fair, and legitimate elections.

“We’re prepared to leave. We urge the state’s residents to maintain peace and order throughout the elections.”

Lastly, he urged people to turn out in their numbers to vote peacefully.
