Congratulations have been pouring in for Emir of the Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, for his 27th anniversary of ascending the throne.
The monarch, who was born 22 April 1940, is the 11th and current Emir of Ilorin. He is the traditional ruler of the Fulani Emirate of Ilorin, Kwara State.
He ascended to the throne in 1995 succeeding his uncle Aliyu Dan Abdulkadir. He is the Chairman of Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council and one of the 10 prominent traditional rulers in northern Nigeria.
November 11 marks 27 years since he ascended the throne and various organisations, eminent personalties and politicians have congratulated the monarch.
Some of such dignitaries include the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar; Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Kwara State University; The first Lady of Kwara State, Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq; Turaki of Ilorin, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, among others.
Atiku’s remark read in part, “I rejoice with the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on his 27th coronation anniversary.
“I congratulate him on this special coronation anniversary and pray for Allah to continue to enrich him with strength, wisdom and good health.”
The governor of Kwara state said” On behalf of the people and Government of Kwara State, I congratulate His Royal Highness Mai Martaba the Emir of Ilorin on the 27th anniversary of his ascension to the throne of Sheikh Alimi.”
He praised the Emir’s creation of platforms in politics and economy that have helped the youths gain skills for improvement. He also thanked the Emir for collaborating with his administration to achieve success.
Saraki also joined in congratulating the Emir as he prayed for him.
“It is a pleasure to join the good people of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the ascension to the throne of Mai Martaba, HRH, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari — the Emir of Ilorin.
“May he continue to reign for many years in peace and with prosperity to the Emirate and its people. May Almighty Allah (SWT) guide him as he continues to lead the Ilorin Emirate.”
The first lady in a statement described the reign of HRH Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari in the last 27 years as “one that has brought peace, tranquility, development and cohesiveness to the people of Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
“Your sincere commitment to the wellbeing and development of the people, Ilorin Emirate and indeed Kwara State is unalloyed, this is evident in the tremendous transformations the Emirate has witnessed since your ascension to the throne.
“May Your Royal Highness live long on the throne with good health and prosperity and the Almighty’s continued support and guidance. CONGRATULATIONS, SHEHUUU”
