On November 25, Justice Ayo Nathaniel Emmanuel of the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, had nullified the Osun local government election.

Therefore, the newly elected governor maintained that his directive was in compliance with the judgement of the Court.

The local government poll was conducted on Saturday, October 15, 2022, by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission under the Chairmanship of Segun Oladitan.

The judge also ordered the local government chairmen and councillors who were sworn in after the election to vacate Local Government Secretariats and offices with immediate effect.

The Osun Local Government election had been a contentious issue between the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress right from the time the state government under Adegboyega Oyetola scheduled the poll for Saturday, October 15, 2022.
