Akeredolu writes Assembly, seeks resumption of duty

 

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has requested an immediate resumption to his official duty after returning medical vacation.

This was disclosed in a letter forwarded to the State House of Assembly, according to his Chief Press Secretary, Olabode Richard Olatunde.

Premium Politics reported that Akeredolu on Thursday returned to Nigeria on Wednesday after spending three months away on medical vacation.

Akeredolu embarked on one-month medical leave on 5 June, and after the expiration of the one-month leave, he was granted an extension by the state assembly.

However, Olatunde, on his official Facebook page on Friday evening, confirmed that Akeredolu has expressed readiness to resume office with immediate effect.

“Following Doctor’s advice on the need to take adequate rest after recuperating, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, CON, has forwarded the letter of extension on medical leave to the Ondo State House of Assembly,” he said in a letter forwarded to the state house.

He also stated that the deputy governor of the state, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa would continue to act as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary.

Receiving the letter on behalf of other lawmakers, the Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon.Olamide Oladiji said the Governor’s action is in line with Section 190(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

According to the letter which was received today during the Parliamentary meeting of the House, the Governor resumed duty today, Friday, 8th September,2023.

Oladiji, who expressed appreciation to God for bringing the governor back home hail and hearty, said the entire people of Ondo State are glad to see him back in office.
