Anambra APC constitutes disciplinary committee over alleged anti-party activities

The All Progressives Congress, Anambra State chapter, has set up a disciplinary committee to check and correct some anomalies and anti-party activities among members ahead 2025 governorship election in the state.

State Chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike, who inaugurated the committee during the party’s stakeholders/leaders meeting, held at Finotel Awka, on Saturday, said the committee launch an investigation into members alleged anti-party activities, and also to reach out to all aggrieved members for proper reconciliation.

It was learnt that there has been a rift among top party officials in the state that induced the rumour that some members of the state leadership may influence appointments from the state in the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government, at the detriment of others.

Ejidike stated further that, “There is a need for us to have a disciplinary committee to sanitise our party. We are also inaugurating the eminent committee, and then the finance committee.

“The essence of a political party is to win an election, and where we fail to win the election, we would be a mere social club. It is from our members who are elected into office that the party is funded. The finance committee will come together and fashion out ways to source funds to run the party.

“There is a need for unity in our party too. The use of social media in our party is now very disturbing. Everyone now has open media platforms, where people congregate to run down the leaders of our party, and that is bad. That is where the disciplinary committee also comes in.”

The APC state chairman disclosed that his executive has visited all governorship aspirants of the party in the last 2021 governorship election, on ways to reconcile everyone, and has received positive feedback.

“Anyone who is still bearing grudges is not telling himself the truth, because we have thrashed out all the problems, and all we need is to forge ahead.

“Anambra APC is now more positioned because President Tinubu is a politician and a core party man. We are hopeful that the labours of our hands in the party will be rewarded under President Tinubu.”

He stated that the party has also resolved to write down the names of 50 members, from all the 21 Local Government Areas of the state for submission, for consideration for Tinubu’s appointments.

He expressed optimism that the Tinubu presidency will give members of the party in the state the enablement to reap from their hard work, over the years.

While addressing the committee members, Ejidike urged them to discharge their duties with all sense of responsibility.

The three committees set up by the chairman include Chibuzo Obiakor as chairman and CJ Chinwuba as secretary of the disciplinary committee, Azuka Okwuosa and Elijah Onyeagba as Chairman and secretary of the Finance committee, and Ralph Okeke and Ifeanyi Ibezi as Chairman and secretary of the eminent committee respectively.

The Chairman used the meeting on behalf of the state chapter to appreciate the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for appointing one of its own, Barrister Sylvester Okonkwo as his Chief of Staff.
