APC tackles Zamfara gov for accusing Matawalle of fund diversion

Gov Bello Matawalle and Dauda Lawal

The All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State has challenged the Governor of the state, Dauda Lawal, over the claim that former Governor Bello Matawalle diverted billions of Naira from the Cargo Airport project.

In a statement issued by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, APC demanded the Governor to present true documents as proof of his claim.

The party further challenged the Governor to bring out the true documents, and also give a reason why he had decided to embark on destroying structures at the Airport and vehemently refused to look into the contractor’s call for a variation of the project from N11 billion to N25 billion as a result of high cost of materials.

“We will want to categorically state that since government is a continuous process, Governor Dauda is fully aware of the actual position of things on the matter, but chose to deceive the people of the state due to the unconfessed hate and disdain he has for Matawalle.

“The current Governor is also using misinformation to cover up his failure, especially in squarely addressing insecurity in Zamfara, where bandits have virtually taken control of the State in a bloodletting spree of innocent citizens, while the Governor is irresponsibly engaged in street dancing in Imo State as if he is expressing his joy over the killings of his people.

“Before Matawalle left office, significant progress was recorded on the project,” Gusau said.
