Bandits, flood displace 6000 Niger residents – Dep gov

The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba said that at least 6,000 people in Niger State have been displaced by bandits and flood.

Garba stated this in Abuja on Thursday during his visit to the Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency, Engr Mustapha Habib Ahmed.

The deputy governor reiterated the need for NEMA to assist the State in tackling the issues, adding that flooding was causing serious devastation in the State.

He said, “Niger State has been having issues of insecurity which I can’t disclose here.

“Aside from that, the weather forecast of this year showed adverse consequences of flooding, which we have been witnessing in Niger State.

He further explained that the State government had sensitised the people in the affected areas to relocate to safer areas so that they won’t be victims of the flood, according to Daily Post.

In his reaction, the NEMA boss stated the agency’s commitment to assist states facing a crisis in the nation.
