Biden congratulates speaker McCarthy’s historic win

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has congratulated Kevin McCarthy on his historic election as Speaker of the lower chamber of the House.

Biden extended his congratulatory remarks in a statement issued shortly before 7am on Saturday, according to CNBC.

He said, “Jill and I congratulate Kevin McCarthy on his election as Speaker of the House.

“I am prepared to work with Republicans when I can and voters made clear that they expect Republicans to be prepared to work with me as well.”

Although, Biden had in the midst of the unsettlement, on Wednesday, en route to Kentucky for an evening with Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Ky, shaded the lawmakers for taking so long.

He said, “I just think it’s really embarrassing it’s taking so long.”
