The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) on Wednesday assured Nigerians of his commitment to ensuring that the 2023 general election is free and fair

Buhari made the remarks while receiving Senator Basheer Lado of the All Progressives Congress, who is running for the Kano Central Senatorial District seat.

Lado’s visit to the President comes just one day before the APC’s Senate primary elections on May 27, 2022.

As reported on Vanguard, Lado told the State House Correspondents following his meeting with the President that Kano State is the largest producer of votes in Nigeria.

“It is the decider of who becomes the next president in the presidential election,” the former Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Human Trafficking said.

According to him, Buhari declared his commitment to holding credible elections that would result in the election of candidates with integrity.

“After my briefing, Mr. President reiterated his commitment to credible and peaceful elections and also his desire to see candidates with integrity prevail at the polls all across Nigeria,” Lado said.
