Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has slammed the Economic Community of West African States for setting a date to invade Niger and attack coup leaders.

He described the whole scenario, as Burkina Faso and Mali have also joined forces with Niger’s military Junta to be on standby against an attack, as madness.

The Russian Wagner, who recently faced its country’s President, Vladimir Putin, have also deployed military personnel to Niger against an attack from ECOWAS.

Fani-Kayode begged the West African bloc to think twice before activating its military force against Niger, as both Nigeria and Niger are allies, having citizens in each other’s territories.

Taking to his X handle on Sunday, FFK, as he is fondly called, wrote, “Burkina Faso and Mali have deployed fighter jets to Niger to assist them in the event of an invasion.

“Russian Wagner forces have been deployed to Niamey to assist the junta in the event of an attack.ECOWAS commanders say the D-Day for an attack “has been set”. This is MADNESS!

“Worse still there are more Nigereins living in Nigeria than there are in Niger! Going to war with Niger will end up being more like a civil war because millions of our people have families on both sides of the border.

“Please ponder on that before the first shot is fired and we send our boys to the killing fields!”
