Coup tweet: Fani-Kayode returns to DSS Wednesday

Former Aviation Minister and spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Femi Fani-Kayode, will on Wednesday return to the Department of State Services, over his coup tweet.

Fani-Kayode, confirmed the development while briefing newsmen on Monday after he was released following hours of questioning by the department of State Services.

Premium Politics reported that the DSS invited Fani-Kayode over his claims, suggesting that the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, is plotting a couple with the Nigerian Army ahead of the 2023 elections with the aim of installing an interim government.

Speaking after hours of drilling by the DSS, FFK revealed that he would have tweeted differently on the matter if he were to do it again.

“I spent about five hours. I was subjected to thorough grilling and asked to come back on Wednesday. If I were to do it a second time, I won’t tweet this same way,” he said.

“I think it’s left to them until they now decide whether they feel the need to take a much more approach to charge me to court, or when they feel that I’ve done nothing wrong.

“But during the course of the discussion, I think it’s fair for me to mention one or two things. I think it’s very self-evident that some of the things that said were regrettable,” he added.

Recall that the DSS invited Fani-Kayode over an allegation of a coup threat during the elections slated for this month.

Meanwhile, the former vice president commended the DSS for inviting Fani-Kayode over the allegations he(FFK) made against him(Atiku).

He stated, “We commend the DSS for the swift invitaltion sent out to Fani-Kayode. He must be made to explain his allegation of an attempted coup being planned by Atiku Abubakar who even during the military regime never attempted to topple the government despite having the resources.

“Fani-Kayode must also be made to reveal the identities of the so-called army generals who are plotting to overthrow the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
