This was contained in a statement issued and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke.

In his statement, Oke, a lawmaker representing Ikere Constituency I, stated that the screening of the 21 commissioner-nominees forwarded to the House by Governor Biodun Oyebanji for screening and possible confirmation will be continued on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in line with Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

According to the Daily Post, the screening exercise, which started on July 3, was put on hold by the House of Assembly due to the adjournment of sittings on July 6, 2023.

The Chairman urged concerned commissioner-nominees to ensure total compliance according to the guidelines set out by the House, as earlier communicated by the clerk of the House, Mr Tola Esan, as they appear before the House.

Meanwhile, only seven nominees are expected to be screened by the House, as 14 of them had already been screened and were waiting for confirmation by the House.

However, the screening of the remaining seven commissioner nominees is to commence by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, on the floor of the House.
