Ekiti governorship candidates sign peace accord

Some of the candidates vying for the governorship seat of Ekiti State in Saturday’s election, have signed a peace accord.

The candidates of the All Progressives Congress, Biodun Oyebamiji and Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party and others were seen at the ceremony.

The witnesses include the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu; Ekiti Council of Traditional Rulers, among others.

The build-up to the June 18, 2022 governorship election has already witnessed violence with at least one death at a rally.
