The former president who was flown to Dubai for a medical treatment in 2016 was still facing a treason case in Pakistan before his death.

The military leader took over power in 1999 in what was called a peaceful coup and he oversaw the affairs of the country with a rapid economic growth until 2008.

His administration was threatened by the Al-Qaeda and other Islamist militant groups who attempted to murder him before chasing him away from the government in 2008.

However, despite all his challenges while in power, the former military leader enjoyed the support of the American Government while he was a President.

However, his death was announced by the Pakistan’s military and the country’s mission in the United Arab Emirates.

According to the spokesperson for Pakistan’s consulate in Dubai with Embassy in Abu Dhabi UAE, while confirming his death, he said, “I can confirm that he passed away this morning.”
