Gen. Oligui who was sworn in as the new interim president of the Central African Country early hours of Monday, September 4, 2023, said a transition to an elected government will come into the fore, “quickly and surely.”

The country’s military leader, who seized power from the ousted president of the country, Ali Bongo Ondimba, who happened to be his cousin, last week Monday, said the authorities need time to make sure new elections are credible, did not show, however, reveal the details of when the new election will take place.

It would be recalled that the military group in the country, led by Oligui, had on Monday, August 28, 2023, removed Ali Bongo, who had ruled the country for 14 years, after taking over power from his father, Omar Bongo who died in 2009, after ruling the country for 44 years.

The military group announced the takeover of government, following the ousted of Junior Bongo who was put in how to arrested after the bloodless military coup, which took place shortly after he won an election, that many people in the country, described as fraud.

However, a large number of the citizens in the country have celebrated the removal of Bongo from office, having been frustrated with alleged widespread corruption, involving the country’s resources and economic problems.
