The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission revealed on Wednesday that forensic analysis has confirmed the authenticity of the dollar videos, implicating former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
It will be recalled that in 2017, several videos went viral online, showing Ganduje receiving kickbacks from contractors.
The kickbacks, which were paid in huge cash and dollars to the now-former governor, were captured in a video that showed Ganduje putting the monies in his Agbada pocket.
However, the then-governor of Kano State denied the allegations, claiming that the videos had been manipulated.
However, in a new twist on Wednesday, during the One Day Public Dialogue on Anti-Corruption Crusade in Kano, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the PCACC, confirmed the credibility of the incriminating videos.
According to him, since the release of the video, sceptics have challenged him to provide evidence of the former governor’s innocence or guilt.
According to the Daily Trust, he disclosed, however, that the commission initiated an investigation into the matter in 2018, but progress was thwarted by Ganduje’s immunity as the then-sitting governor of the state.
