The Nasarawa State Police Command has banned all forms of protests, adding that all proposed protests under any guise in any part of the state were prohibited.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Sunday, pointed out that security report prompted the move.

It was gathered that the continued protest engaged in by women believed to be supporters of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, prompted the ban.

The statement reads, “The Nasarawa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the state.”

It stated further that the police command took the decision to maintain law and order and to sustain the peace currently being enjoyed in the state, noting that the intelligent report on security can’t entertain any form of protests in the state.

The statement also urged parents and guardians to call children and wards to order to ensure the do note violate the law, vowing that anyone found culpable would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

Recall that members of the PDP in the State, including women and youth groups had embarked on protests since the declaration of the winner of the just concluded governorship election, requesting the Independent National Electoral Commission, to examine the results of the 2023 governorship election.

INEC had declared incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the poll conducted on 18th March, 2023.
