The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stated that governance is about hope.

Obi stated this while speaking during the LP’s Official Governorship Campaign, Flag-off and Launch of Senator Achonu’s Manifestos, during the party’s mega rally, ahead of the November 11 governorship election, in the state, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

The governorship candidate of the party in Imo state, Athan Achonu, had earlier announced that the party’s Presidential flagbearer will be in the state on Tuesday.

Disclosing this while briefing journalists in Owerri on Monday, Achonu expressed readiness for the event, noting that all was set to receive Obi and his team in the state.

Achonu made it known that the event would take place at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Stadium in Owerri on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, noting that all the necessary arrangements have been put in place to welcome Obi and the party’s national leaders to the state.

According to him, all the leadership of the party, party members and all supporters in the state were eagerly waiting to receive Obi in Owerri, on Tuesday.

He added that the Abia state governor, Alex Otti would also be attending the event, alongside the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure, and other national officers and chieftains of the LP.

“His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, the governor of Abia State, our national chairman and other national officers of our party will be with us as we flag off our campaign for the November 11 governorship election in Imo State.

“Labour Party, of course, is the party to beat. We are prepared, and we have the support of the people, and we hope that we will sack the APC from the Government House,” Achonu said.

However, Obi’s presence at the rally was made known through a post on
the X handle of the party on Tuesday afternoon.

“Governance is about Hope @PeterObi speaking in Imo State today at the @NgLabour Official Governorship Campaign Flag-off & Launch of Sen. Achonu’s Manifesto,” the post read.
