Buhari on Saturday celebrated his 80th birthday anniversary.

The retired general claimed that he scheduled his return flight from America for his birthday in order to avoid any celebrations in a thank-you post on his Facebook page on Monday.

Buhari left the US on Saturday after attending the US-Africa Leaders Summit there.

He wrote, “I’m grateful for the outpouring of good wishes for my 80th birthday. I tried to avoid having to celebrate, by fixing our return journey from the United States on that day, but I didn’t quite succeed.

“I give thanks to the Almighty for the gift of life, and the opportunity to serve, and I also thank everyone who sent prayers and greetings, and organised celebrations.”
