Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Anambra South, who recently defected from the Young Progressive Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress, has been formally received by the APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, in Abuja.
Ubah was accompanied by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who presented him to the party leader at the APC national headquarters on Thursday.
Ubah, who wore a white Babaringa and a red cap, arrived at the party secretariat around 4.15 pm with Akpabio.
PUNCH Metro reported that Ubah announced his defection from the YPP to the APC two hours before his arrival.
The Senate President also read Ubah’s defection letter in the Senate Chamber on Thursday. Ubah, who was re-elected for another four years on the platform of YPP in the previous elections, said he left his former party because of “insurmountable disagreements” within it.
Ubah is the only senator elected under the YPP in the 9th National Assembly. He is also a prominent businessman and the owner of Capital Oil and Gas Limited.
