The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu has announced the dissolution of his body of aides, which includes special advisers, senior special assistants and others.
The announcement was made via a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Chris Ezem.
The announcement said the dissolution would take effect “immediately,” although it did not explain why.
It would be recalled that Ikpeazu dismissed his aides on December 14, 2021, and then selected new ones in early 2022.
Prior to this dissolution, it was difficult to ascertain the number of aides the governor paraded because their appointments were still in effect.
According to an unsubstantiated source close to Government House Umuahia, the number is well over 300.
New aides are expected to be appointed before December 31, 2022, or early 2023 as foot soldiers to be used for 2023 general elections in the state.
