Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is currently meeting with all the Resident Electoral Commissioners.
According to Channels, the meeting is currently being held at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
This meeting marks the first instance of public access since the conclusion of the 2023 General Elections.
The meeting will review the February general elections and discuss preparations for the off-season governorship elections in Kogi and Imo in November this year.
According to INEC spokesman Festus Okoye, the electoral umpire noted that the evaluation will begin with a meeting of the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and culminate with the commission’s retreat.
Since 2011, the commission has held these review meetings following each general election.
The evaluation, according to INEC, would focus on all elements of electoral activity prior to, during, and after the elections.
