The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has cautioned the governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, in the coming election in the state, against divisive speeches.

Mr. Bello’s direction comes on the heels of the controversy that has followed the suspension of Murtala Yakubu, a member of the APC National Working Committee from the state.

The governor appealed to them to instead focus on their strengths in wooing party members ahead of its primary election scheduled for April.

Mr. Bello, in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, warned against divisive tendencies that could jeopardize the interest of the party and undermine the peace and unity that the ruling party had been enjoying in the state, under his leadership.

The governor restated that the party would guarantee a fair playing ground for the best candidate to emerge in the primary election.

Mr. Bello expressed confidence that APC would win the governorship election with a wide margin in November.

However, Governor Bello wished all the governorship aspirants a successful screening exercise.
