The New Nigeria Peoples Party has announced that its presidential candidate, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, will not be stepping down for his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar.
The NNPP’s spokesman, Major Agbo, in an interview with The PUNCH, refuted a report that northern leaders were pressuring Kwankwaso to step down for Atiku.
When asked if Kwankwaso would step down, Agbo responded, asking, “How can anyone come out and say Kwankwaso should step down for Atiku?” No, Atiku should step down.”
Agbo, reiterated that, Kwankwaso is in the race to win, stressing that he will emerge the next president of the country.
However, the NNPP spokesperson did not rule out the possibility of alliance talks, which he stated would take place on its terms.
