Mr Ganduje said this while explaining that, the former Kano state governor and presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, remains his intimate friend, despite their political differences.

He said there was nothing untoward in his chauffeuring of erstwhile governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, to the latter’s residence.

The governor said this in Kano yesterday, during a peace dinner, organised by Kano Peace Committee, in collaboration with the National Peace Committee, as part of efforts to foster a peaceful atmosphere ahead of this weekend’s governorship and state house of assembly election in the state.

Mr Ganduje, who admitted that politics is a dirty game, urged stakeholders and political parties to always promote peace, harmonious relationships and hitch-free elections.

According to him, it is high time political parties and political players built campaigns on core issues of development.

Mr Ganduje therefore, pledged to encourage free, fair and credible elections.

While speaking, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Amb. Abdul Zango, gave assurance on the commission’s readiness for a transparent voting exercise.

However, the acting co-chairman of the peace panel, Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, who had earlier lamented heightening violence in Kano, since campaigns began, insisting that election should not be a do or die affair

Mr Mahmood therefore, urged the political stakeholders and security agencies to maintain neutrality and professionalism, during the conduct of the election.
