Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has said that her marital status as a single mother will not affect her ability to serve the people of Rivers if elected.

The single mother of one who is the running mate to the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Rivers State, Tonte Ibraye, also stated that she is ready to answer questions bothering on the controversies around her.

Speaking on TVC’s ‘Your View’ program on Thursday, she stated, ” I believe that one’s character should be questioned especially in a situation like this, however, I do not believe that a woman’s marital status should determine her ability to perform or not”

She also added that though she is a single mother, she has all the much needed requirement to lead and also serve in any leadership position.

“I believe so much in the institution of marriage, it’s a beautiful thing to sleep and wake up with your partner with you for the rest of your life.

“However I do not believe that it is a yardstick to define a woman’s ability to serve in any leadership position ” she added.

On critical questions about her personal life that might come from political opponents, Dikeh stated, “I am prepared for anything, truthfully. I have had three years to work on this.
