Most Senators support Buhari’s impeachment – APC lawmaker

Flood: Develop comprehensive solution, Buhari orders ministers

An All Progressives Congress chieftain, Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, said a large number of senators voted for the impeachment of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The senator representing Bauchi north senatorial district made this disclosure during an interview with Channels TV Politics today on Monday.

Bulkachuwa further revealed that the call for President Buhari’s impeachment was also voted for by members of the APC.

Members of the upper chamber had called for the impeachment of President Buhari over the unsolved insecurity challenges berating the country.

The Red Chamber Peoples Democratic Party members and leader of the senate minority representing the Federal Capital Territory, Philip Aduda, had staged a walkout from plenary on Wednesday 27, July 2022 after the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan shut down the motion on insecurity and impeachment of Buhari.

Explaining what transpired, Bulkachuwa said the senate on the day went into a closed-door session, and almost 100 per cent of the National Assembly members supported the motion for the impeachment of the President, making it a majority call.

He said, “On that day, the senate went into close session and it was at the close session that this issue was discussed and without divulging so much, I can tell you that the majority of the senators really felt there was need to initiate that action (the impeachment of President Buhari).

Responding if the APC senators also joined in the vote for the impeachment of the president, the senator said, “Yes, as a majority.” He added, that “it was almost unanimous.”

Bulkachuwa continued, “It wasn’t 100 per cent unanimous per se but majority supported it (the impeachment of President Buhari), and this didn’t come out to public knowledge because it was during a close session.”
