It was a very hot day in Benin city on Wednesday, as lots of protests marked the day with series of attacks on bank facilities and some banks were set ablaze, along the lines.

In a viral video showing online, a group of distrust protesters were struggling to launch an attack on the facility of a branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Benin City while the security operatives guiding the facility, were shooting at them, in order to repel the attack.

However, no fewer than three people allegedly killed during the face off between the people and the security operatives.

Meanwhile, another viral video showing online revealed how customers and members of the public protected a branch of the First City Monument Bank in new Benin.

According to the information gotten from the video, the bank has been the only bank, paying cash to the people ever since the issue of scarcity of naira happened, and that is why it was been protected by the people.

The protest, which is not peculiar to a state, is being caused by the poor implementation of the new naira notes redesigned, which resulted into naira scarcity thereby causing an economic crisis, throughout the country.
