Chinedum Orji, the son of the late governor Theodore Orji, has been defeated by Mr. Obi Aguocha of the Labour Party.

Mr. Chinedum Orji, Speaker of the Abia House of Assembly, came in last in the election held on Saturday for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Uma Oke, declared the results on Monday. She stated that the LP candidate received 48,199 votes, defeating PDP candidate Orji, who received 35,196 votes.

In comparison to Mr. Ogbonna Abariukwu of the APGA, he claimed that Mr. Ogbonnaya Obilor of the APC received 4,042 votes.

He added that Mr. Friday Chimaobi of the YPP received 1013 votes, while Mr. Obinna Nwosu of the ADC received 2386.

Others received votes, such as Patience Okorie of the NNPP, who received 644, Mr. Christian Ibekwe of the NRM, who received 68, and Mr. Nnamdi Ogbuagu of the APP, who received 347.

Afterwards, Oke told reporters that the results for the Abia Central Senatorial District will be announced once the Osisioma Local Government Area votes were complete.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Abia Central Senatorial District is made up of six Local Government Areas: Ikwuano, Osisioma, Isiala Ngwa South, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South.
