The presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has reiterated the need for Nigerians to set aside ethnicity and sentiments to elect credible candidates.

The former Anambra State governor stated this during a live interview session on CNN on Friday.

According to him, it is high time Nigerians change the narrative by electing their leaders without considering religion or ethnicity.

He revealed that the current political irregularities within the Nigerian system is because of the sentiments and bias involved in electing candidates during elections.

“… that’s our problem , we have been able to elect people based on ethnicity, religion, my turn, connection or one form of bias or the other which brought is to where we are.

” There is a structure of criminality which we want to dismantle now. The next election must be based on competence, character , capacity , commitment to do the right thing” he stated.

He also revealed that If elected, he will ensure that the nation’s security personnel are properly motivated to tackle the various cases of insecurity in the nation.

“I’ll ensure our security personnel are properly motivated and well equipped to deal with issue of insecurity” he stated.
