Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has approached a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, seeking a motion to protect him from being allegedly impeached by his boss, Godwin Obaseki.

Reports revealed that Shaibu is seeking an order of interlocutory injunction, stopping Obaseki and his cohorts, from any possible embarrassment, harassment, and intimidation, or preventing him from carrying out his official legal duties.

It was gathered that Shaibu and his boss have been at Loggerhead since he was seen in a video with Senator Adams Oshiomhole.

Governor Obaseki was allegedly said to have put his deputy on a bad record, after the said viral video came to the public, accusing him of disloyalty, by mingling with his political rival, and promising to impeach him.

However, the governor reportedly summoned the members of the State House of Assembly to his residence and deliberately excluded his deputy.

However, upon his arrival at Obaseki’s residence, Shaibu was said to have allegedly been denied access to his boss’ residence. He was said to have been told that he was not among the invited attendees.

Meanwhile, the motion filed by Shaibu argues that he is being targeted because of his political association with Oshiomhole.

Among those listed in the motion filed by him, are the governor of the State, the Inspector General of Police, the Speaker of the State Assembly and the Chief Judge of Edo State, all as defendants.

Reports also revealed that Shabu’s ambition to contest for the position of governor in the coming election in the state is the major cause of their rift.
