The main collation agent for the Peoples Democratic Party during the last presidential election, Johnson Fatoki and others, have left their different political parties and joined the rulling, All Progressives Congress, after APC won the presidential election.

Fatoki and other chieftain from different political parties joined the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, after deserting their former party.

PDP and other political parties lost to the rulling party APC, at the Saturday February 25 presidential election in Nigeria, when the Presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polled a score of 8,794,726 votes in the election.

However, other chieftains of political parties, who joined APC are: Segun Seriki, Alhaji Saula Adegunwa, Otunba Femi Osifade, Ralph Olaosebikan and Mr Tola Mebude.

Among other members that decamped to APC are: Former chairman of Ijebu East local government, Michael Agboolade, Former House of Assembly member, Akeem Salami, Former financial secretary of PDP in Ogun State, Bola Odumosun, Chairman of Elders Council, Alhaji T.A Olatokunbo, and Alhaja Fatimo Sonibare.

While speaking at the Iperu-Remo country home of the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, the leader of the Ogun central team and former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Fatoki said the group made up of members of different political parties, that went through a lot of pressure and overtures from various political parties, but decided to support Governor Abiodun second term ambition.

Speaking further, Fatoki described the group as ‘a complete team,’ made up of experienced politicians from Ogun central, who are all leaders in their communities, which cannot be overlooked, in Ogun politics.

“This team is a complete team. Our members cut across different parties who had held at least one political post currently in the past.

“We are not here to demand for anything but here to work for the governor. The party will win even after Governor Abiodun’s next four years. We know that whether we join the APC or not, the party will still win, so it is better we join now,” he stated.

Fatoki stated that the inclusive policy and the developmental strides of the incumbent administration across the state, attracted the group to the rulling party, noting that thier coming into the party, was not for personal interest, but for the betterment of the Ogun people.

The governor, Dapo Abiodun, while reacting to the development, he described the leader of the group, Fatoki, as a forthright, reliable, consistent and committed individual, who is not a push over in both the Ogun State and national politics, having served the PDP in various capacities.

The governor stated that the inclusive policy of his administration was to open up the political space and make it easy for many people to join the APC.

He lauded the groups for taking the right step, adding that though, it was tough, the decision would enable them to be in the mainstream and play an active part in serving their people.

“My being in government is to impact on the lives of the people. Your decision to join us will make you active players in decision making because most of the projects we executed are from the people,’ the governor said.
