The Member representing Ilaje /Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Donald Ojogo, has donated N100,000 each to the 21 law school graduands, ahead of their call to bar ceremony.
The Ondo State federal lawmaker, who presented the cash gift to the law school graduates from his federal constituency during a visit to his office at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, said the gesture was part of his promise during his campaign to contribute to the growth and development of education in the area.
Tribune reported that the lawmaker said the financial assistance to the law school graduands is without political or ethnic affiliations but to assist and prepare them ahead of their call to bar ceremony slated for October.
Ojomo advised them to adhere strictly to the ethics of the legal profession and to avoid engaging in practices capable of undermining their integrity.
He said, “We cherish education and one of the ways through which we can impact our society is to give unfettered access to education and assist our students.”
He charged them to be exceptional ambassadors not only of the legal profession but also of their federal constituency, urging them to use their legal expertise to positively impact their various communities and promote justice and equity.
“This gesture demonstrates my commitment in ensuring that you have the necessary resources and support as you prepare for your call to bar ceremony slated for October, barring the unforeseen.
“It is a testament to my belief in your potential and recognition of the financial challenges that often accompany such moments in life.
“As you embark on this new chapter of your lives, remember that you carry the hopes and dreams of your community with you.
“Therefore, you are expected to put in your best at all times in order not to let yourself and the profession down. You must imbibe the principles of integrity and diligence in order to succeed as lawyers.
“Embrace the responsibility to make a meaningful difference, not only in the legal field but also in the lives of those you serve. Be good exports of our very unique Federal Constituency.
“Congratulations on your extraordinary achievements. Cherish these moments and let them fuel your passion and determination as you step into the legal profession”, he said.
The beneficiaries commended the lawmaker for the gestures, saying the gesture will go to motivate them to be better versions of themselves.
