Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party standard bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

Ortom made this on his official Twitter handle, adding that the untold events that happened during the party’s convention are now a thing of the past.

According to the governor, the PDP is a family and their matters will be settled in-house.

This is coming on the reels of the comment of the former Vice President that he snubbed River State Governor, Nyesom Wike because he cannot work with him.

Atiku made this remark while speaking in an exclusive interview with ARISE TV, where he expressed that Rivers State governor was not rejected as some media platform peddled.

The PDP standard-bearer had picked Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa to be his running mate; a development that led to rancour in the party, which saw the exodus of some party members and some denouncing their support for the Atiku-Okowa ticket.

The aggrieved PDP members had asserted that Atiku’s rejection of Wike despite the National Working Committee endorsement was an unacceptable development.

However, the plea to dump Okowa for Wike fell on deaf ears, as the party flag officially unveil the Delta man to be his running mate.

To quell the discord, and the unsettled rift between Wike, Atiku and other members of the party, some party members including Gov Ortom Samuel had asked Atiku and the party to reconcile with Wike.

Ortom further revealed that the former Vice President had asked him to plead with Wike for possible reconciliation and he affirmed trust the process will go smoothly.

In a turn of events, Ortom who in previous times had taken a stand with his Rivers State counterpart has now taken his stand with Atiku, saying he won’t contradict what his principal had said.

Saying this in a tweet, Orom revealed “I will not contradict @atiku on what he said. He is my candidate and I am behind him. Whatever happened in the course of the primaries and nomination of the Presidential running mate is now a thing of the past. PDP is a family, and we will always settle our matters in-house.”
