According to The PUNCH, the letter for the suspension was addressed to the National headquarters in Abuja, on Friday, and was signed by the state chairman, Michael Okunlade.

The party executive and its governorship candidate had a disagreement a few days to the election over who to collapse the structure of the SDP for between Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party and Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

A copy of the letter which was obtained on Sunday in Ibadan, read, “After reviewing the activities of Lana, the governorship candidate in the just concluded general election and the secretary of the party during and after the elections, the whole house resolved as follows:

“That Lana be suspended from the party for anti-party activities. The state secretary, Owokoya, be suspended for indiscipline and insubordination.

“In line with the party’s constitution, we therefore wish to forward the resolution of the party for your office approval to suspend both Lana and Owokoya. The party also resolved that Ajibola Adeniyi of Lagelu Local Government Area under the Oyo Central secretarial district should replace Owokoya in acting capacity.
