A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in Kagarko Loca Government Area of Kaduna State, Major General Ishaiku Usman (retd.), on Monday, called for the arrest and prosecution of the bandits’ kingpin, Ado Aleiro, installed as Sarkin Fulanin Yandoto in the state.

According to Daily Post, Usman told the governor, Bello Matawalle that the suspension of the Emir of Birnin Yandoto in Tsafe Local Government Area, Aliyu Garba Marafa, is not enough to serve as a deterrent to criminals operating in the state.

General Usman asks that the arrest of the real culprit and punishment for his crimes will serve as a deterrent for other crime perpetrators in Zamfara.

The Emir of Birnin Yandoto in Tsafe Local Government Area, Aliyu Garba Marafa, had on Saturday, conferred a chieftaincy title on a notorious bandits’ kingpin, Ado Aleiro as a way to stop the incessant attacks on the community by bandits.

However, the installation led to a public outcry after which Matawalle ordered the immediate suspension of the emir.

Reacting on Monday, General Usman noted that in as much as the emir was suspended, the bandits’ kingpin must equally be arrested, detained, and face the law.

According to him, by so doing, the whole world would know that the state government was not instrumental in the installation.

“How would a thief, bandit for that matter be installed, or recognized in one of the local government areas of the state, and you only leave the culprit, but punish the emir, who out of fear of further attack, did what the community asked him to do?” he queried.

He called on the Federal Government to urgently collaborate with the Zamfara State Government in order to bring the criminals terrorising the community to book.

“Can you imagine bandits walking freely with some people in their communities, yet nobody is saying anything. It’s very bad. Government must do something urgently,” he said.
