The schedule for Edo State’s upcoming gubernatorial election has been unveiled by the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party.

 

According to The PUNCH, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, revealed the timetable following a joint meeting of the Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee at the party’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

 

The timetable states that the party’s congress to determine its gubernatorial candidate will occur on February 22, 2024. Aspiring candidates for the gubernatorial election can obtain the nomination form for N21 million, with a 50 percent discount available for youths aged 25 to 30.

 

The timetable also includes the registration of old and new members from November 16 to December 7, and the submission of ward register to the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation by December 14.

 

Additionally, a stakeholders’ consultative meeting with the National Working Group is scheduled for December 19-20.

 

Furthermore, the schedule outlines the sales of expression of interest and ad-hoc forms for all offices from January 10-16, with the last day for submission of completed forms on January 17.

 

The screening of aspirants for the governorship seat by the National Working Committee will take place on January 18, 2024.

 

The sales of nomination forms to aspirants who completed and submitted their expression of interest forms will occur from January 19-25, with the deadline for submission of completed nomination forms set for January 27.

 

Finally, the governorship primary is planned for February 22, and the appeal on the governorship primary is scheduled for February 24.
