The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, lost against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the suit, seeking to disqualify Tinubu on the 25% votes in the Federal Capital Territory, at the ongoing Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Abuja.

The LP and Obi had approached the court to disqualify Tinubu, the then candidate of the All Progressives Congress, noting that he did not score the necessary 25% votes in the FCT, at the February 25, Presidential election, as required by the constitution.

However, reports revealed that the PEPT ruled that FCT citizens do not enjoy special privileges ahead of other states of the federation and as such, 25% of the case is dismissed.
