The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has lamented the challenges facing the country ranging from religious, ethnic and regional division to the dismal state of its educational sector among others.

Obi aired his opinion via his verified Twitter handle on Thursday morning as the former Anambra State Governor visits Houston, United States of America.

Obi also lamented the high level of corruption which has become the norm in the country.

“Nigeria is vastly polarized and wracked by deep divisions along religious, ethnic and regional lines.

“There is a staggering level of corruption. Our universities have remained closed for six months,” he stated.

While soliciting the support of the Nigerians in the USA, he explained that it only takes visionary leadership and disruptive thinker for Nigeria to be put back on the right trajectory.

“Even though the outlook seems bleak, especially with the present state of insecurity ad parlous economy, things, I am certain that with your avid prayers and contributions in both human and material terms, Nigeria will recover.

“It will take only one visionary leadership and disruptive thinker for Nigeria to be put back on the right trajectory. I know that with robust diaspora support we can do it for Nigeria.”

Peter Obi’s visit to the USA is part of his visit to Nigerians in the diaspora.

Obi announced his engagement with Nigerians in the U.S in a video posted on social media, which according to him, will start from Wednesday, Aug. 31 to Saturday, Sept. 3.

Earlier, Obi had met with some Nigerians in Germany, Italy, and Canada over his presidential ambition.

He had also visited the Vatican City in Rome, where he attended the ceremony where a Nigerian, Bishop Peter Okpaleke of Ekwulobia Diocese, was elevated to a Cardinal in the Catholic Church.
