The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, had congratulated the new president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero.
PUNCH METRO on Wednesday reported that Ajaero emerged the president of the Labour body unopposed to succeed Ayuba Wabba, whose tenure as NLC national president ends Wednesday.
Reacting to the development, Obi, through a statement through his official Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon congratulated Ajaero, for emerging unopposed as the new leader of the NLC.
“A very hearty congratulations to Comrade Joe Ajaero, for emerging unopposed as the new President of the Nigeria Labour Congress.
“He has served the Labour Movement well. We look forward to working with him,” he tweeted.
Ajaero, who was the labor union’s deputy national president prior to being elected president, created history by winning the election without any challengers.
Ajaero became the NLC national president at the 13th National Delegates’ Conference of the labor union, which is taking place in Abuja.
Prior to his election, he was also the general secretary of the Nigerian Union of Electricity Employees.
