The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25 general elections, Peter Obi, has formally submitted a petition challenging the process which produced the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the President-elect.

Upon polling the highest number of votes and satisfying the required 25 per cent spread of votes, as well other legal requirements, the Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Tinubu as the winner of the election on Wednesday, March 1.

 

The Chief Spokesman of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, made the submission of the petition public in a statement on Tuesday morning, according to Vanguard.

 

He wrote, “It is official the Labor Party Presidential candidate Peter OBI has filed his petition to the presidential elections tribunal in Abuja. The process of reclaiming the people’s mandate has started.”
