Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, kicked off his campaign for the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday in Plateau State capital Jos.

In the company of his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, Peter Obi arrived the capital of Plateau State, Jos, earlier today in support of the ‘OBIdient’ solidarity match where he declared the formal start of the campaign.

Taking to his verified Twitter page, Obi shared the first pictures of his trip to Jos with the caption: “Arriving Jos with Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, to meet with Gbong Gwom Jos, HRM Jacob Gya.”

In subsequent posts with pictures of the rally, the LP candidate wrote, “My Remarks at the Jos Rally.
My fellow Nigerians and OBIdients, I join you today as we mark the formal start of the 2023 campaign season. We must all reflect on the journey we are embarking upon.
We seek a new nation, but to arrive there, we need prayers and courage. #POinJos.”

He urged Obi-dients across the country to pray for the security of the OBIdient family and every participant including the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, throughout the election period.

Stating that the Obi-Datti administration represents “Hope and Promise”, Obi insisted that to achieve a secure and productive Nigeria, there is a need for “transformative leadership” that is inspired by competence, capacity, credibility and commitment, what he described as the 4Cs of leadership competencies required to turn Nigeria around.

He added that Plateau state “will not only host several potato chips processing companies, which will create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths but other parts of the North will be dotted with several agro-processing industries.”
