Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, the son of the convicted Nigerian senator, Ike Ekweremadu, tied the knot with his lover, Tiffany Adaobi Obinna-Uzor, in Abuja on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

This was disclosed by the governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwaifuru, through a Facebook post.

Nwaifuru revealed that the event was held at the Basilica of Grace, Anglican Communion, Gudu District Abuja.

Among the dignitaries at the event were, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwaifuru, former senate president Bukola Saraki, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.

Others were the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and Senator George Thompson Sekibo from Rivers State, among other personalities, who attended the wedding ceremony.

Sharing the photos online, Nwaifuru wrote: “Earlier today, we gathered at the Basilica of Grace, Anglican Communion, Gudu District Abuja, to witness and rejoice with Lloyd Ikechukwu Ekweremadu, the son of our dearest brother and statesman, the former Deputy Senate President – Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as he got wedded to his wife, Tiffany Adaobi Obinna-Uzor.

“May God shower your union with immeasurable blessings of peace and progress, Amen.”

Premium Politics reported that Ekweremadu on the 23rd of June 2022, was charged with conspiracy, in the case of alleged organ harvesting, by arranging the travel of a 21-year-old boy, David Ukpo, from Lagos to the UK, to serve as a donor, in the kidney transplant operator, that was. Meant to be performed on Ekweremadu’s daughter, Sonia.

However, on Friday 24th of March, 2023, after being found guilty in the case of organ harvesting, Ekweremadu 60, his wife Beatrice 56, and Dr Obinna Obeta 51, were all sentenced to prison, for conspiring to exploit the boy, for his kidney.

Meanwhile, while Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison for organ trafficking, his wife, Beatrice, was sentenced to four years and six months in jail, and Doctor Obeta was also sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The sentencing took place on Friday at the Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, UK.

However, the case marked the first time, the defendants were convicted under the Modern Slavery Act of an organ harvesting conspiracy.
