The President of the Senate in the 8th Assembly, Former Senator Bukola Saraki, has joined the serving Senators in the 10th Assembly, to partake in a 2-day retreat on fiscal policy and tax reform in Akwa Ibom State.

Saraki who made this known via a post on his X handle on Friday, October 20, 2023, expressed hope that with a proper understanding of the historical institutional frameworks that led to many of the fiscal reforms and collaborations between the executive and legislative arm of government will help some key reforms and strategies evolve.

It would be remembered that the former senate president who represented Kwara West at the senate, was voted out from the Red Chamber through the ‘Oto ge’ slogan of the All Progressives Congress in 2019, which gave a chance to Senator Isa Onilu, who currently representing Kwara West Senatorial District at the Senate.

However, showing his participation in the 2-day retreat, Saraki posted some pictures of himself, alongside the current senate president, Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Ali Ndume, among others.

Similarly, the immediate former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, is also featured in the photos.

“During the 8th Senate, we embarked on a comprehensive review of our national legislation to improve the business and economic climate of the country. As the government is a continuum, today, it is a pleasure to join our serving Senators in Ikot Ekpene for a 2-Day retreat on fiscal policy and tax reform.

“I am optimistic that, with the proper understanding of the historical institutional frameworks that led to many of our fiscal reforms, and a conscious decision to collaborate between the legislative and executive branches, some key reforms and strategies can evolve from this process,” Saraki tweeted.
