Reports revealed that the INEC’s legal representation, Abubakar Mahmoud, during the proceedings, presented a single witness, Dr Lawrence Bayode, Deputy Director in the Information and Communication Technology Department of the Commission.

While under cross-examination, Bayode revealed that even if blurry documents were downloaded from IREV, it would not impact the physical results as recorded in Forms EC8As, which remain clear and legible.

The witness further clarified that the images of Forms EC8A, captured with BVAS and transmitted to IREv, hold no relevance in the result collation process.

He however assured the court that the technical issues experienced during the presidential election did not in any way affected the proper collation of the results.

However, the Commission’s layer therefore announced the conclusion of the first respondent’s case, after the witness’s testimony.

Peter Obi and his Party, the Labour Party, had approached the court to challenge the eligibility of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential election, while the process and the outcome of the election are also being challenged at the court.
