JNI said security remains a crucial concern for the Nigerian Muslim community and the entire nation, noting that together Nigerians can build a safer and more peaceful nation for everyone.

According to Leadership, in a statement issued by JNI secretary general, Prof Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, on Wednesday to mark New Hijra Year 1445AH, he urged all Muslims to observe the auspicious occasion with reflection, prayers, and commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous, and secure nation.

JNI said in the spirit of sacrifice and empathy, all leaders should lead by example and embrace an austere lifestyle: “By doing so, they demonstrate solidarity with the masses, understanding their plight, and reinforcing the message of equality and humility.

“Jama’atu Nasril Islam under the leadership of His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III extends warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of the New Hijra Year 1445 which begins today, Wednesday 19th July, 2023 as declared by His Eminence the Sultan.

“In the same vein, JNI urges leaders at all levels to prioritize the welfare of the people by formulating and implementing policies that alleviate the hardships faced by our nation. Empowering the vulnerable and addressing pressing issues such as unemployment, poverty, and healthcare should be at the forefront of their agendas.

“The Hijrah is a turning point in the history of Islam, it signifies resilience and loyalty of the Muslims to Allah the Exalted, and His Messenger. It also signifies sacrifice, commitment and above all strong and unshakeable faith as displayed by the Companions.

“We acknowledge the challenging times the nation is facing and urge the masses to remain steadfast and resolute in their faith and determination. Let us view these hardships as a teething phase towards a better future, and by standing united, we shall overcome all obstacles.

“As we are in the rainy season, JNI implores all Muslims to pray for abundant rainfall that will bless our lands with bountiful crops and lead to a bumper harvest. Let us also be mindful of water conservation and proper agricultural practices to sustain our resources for generations to come.”
