The governors of the five states in the South-East region convened at the Government House in Enugu State on Thursday.
The regional South-East Governors’ Forum is comprised of the following governors: Alex Otti representing Abia, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo representing Anambra, Francis Nwifuru representing Ebonyi, Dr. Peter Mbah representing Enugu, and Senator Hope Uzodimma representing Imo.
The meeting signifies the inaugural meeting among the five governors subsequent to their assumption of office on May 29, 2023.
One notable item that is expected to be of significant importance on the agenda pertains to the occurrence of the sit-at-home event on Monday within the region, as well as the request for the liberation of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the separatist organisation known as the Indigenous People of Biafra. It is noteworthy that Mr. Kanu has been detained by the Department of State Services since June 2021.
