Tinubu appoints new heads of information agencies

President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of eight new chief executive officers for parastatals and agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

The appointments take immediate effect and are part of the president’s efforts to reform the key institutions of government that function to unify the nation, reshape mindsets, and showcase Nigeria to the world.

 

According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the new appointees are:

 

Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu as the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency. Issa-Onilu is a former National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress and a seasoned journalist with over 25 years of experience in print and broadcast media. He holds a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University, USA.

 

Mr. Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos as the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority. Dembos is a veteran broadcaster who has served in various capacities in NTA, including as Executive Director of Marketing, General Manager of NTA Lokoja and Kano, and Zonal Director of NTA Kaduna. He is also a former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union.

 

Dr. Muhammed Bulama as the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria. Bulama is a former member of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the 1979 constitution. He is also a former Minister of State for Water Resources and a former member of the House of Representatives. He has a PhD in marketing communications from Babcock University, Ogun State.

 

Mr. Charles Ebuebu as the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission. Ebuebu is a media consultant and a former General Manager of Silverbird Television. He has over 20 years of experience in broadcasting and media management. He holds a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Lagos.

 

Mr. Jibrin Baba Ndace as the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria. Ndace is a war journalist and a former Chief Press Secretary to Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello. He is also a public relations practitioner, public affairs commentator, peace advocate, and General Manager of Special Duties at Blueprint Newspapers Limited. He writes a weekly column and features on a weekly radio talk show on defence and security issues.

 

Dr. Lekan Fadolapo as the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria. Fadolapo is a multi-disciplinary professional with degrees in economics, business administration, marketing, accountancy, legal studies, and a PhD in marketing communications from Babcock University, Ogun State. He is also a former Executive Secretary of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria.

 

Mr. Ali Muhammed Ali as the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria. Ali is a journalist and a former Editor-in-Chief of The Market newspaper. He has also worked as a Communications Consultant for the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

 

Mr. Dili Ezughah as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council. Ezughah is a lawyer and a former Deputy Director of Legal Services at NPC. He has also served as a legal adviser to several media organisations and civil society groups. He holds a master’s degree in law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

 

The president congratulated the new appointees and urged them to work hard to achieve their mandates. He also thanked the outgoing heads of the information agencies for their service to the nation.
