Tinubu, who expressed optimism in better bilateral relations between the two countries, revealed his willingness to engage King Charles III, as soon as possible.

The new king was coronated based on family succession, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September 2022.

However, in his congratulatory message to the new king, Tinubu expressed hope that the King would continue the smooth relationship between England and Nigeria during his reign.

His letter reads partly: “As the president-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I also hope that during your reign, the excellent bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Britain will continue and even become stronger in the interests of our two countries.

“I look forward to further engagements with you and the opportunity of a meeting shortly both of us had earlier indicated in discussions with mutual friends and associates.”
